Cultural Preservation
Protecting the Maay Language & Heritage
The Maay language is central to Somali Bantu identity. Our cultural preservation work focuses on documenting, teaching, and celebrating this unique linguistic heritage that connects generations across continents.
"Af Maay waa hiddo iyo aqoon. Waa luqad ay ku hadlaan quruunka Bantu Soomaalida. Waa qalab lagu ilaaliyo dhaqanka iyo taariikhda."
(Translation: "Maay is heritage and knowledge. It is the language spoken by generations of Somali Bantu people. It is a tool to preserve culture and history.")
